Course Description

Bears are an important part of our natural landscapes and learning how to proactively co-exist helps keep both people and wildlife safe. This engaging talk will be given by WDFW’s Statewide Bear & Cougar Specialist Rich Beausoleil, and he will provide attendees with results from an 11-year black bear research project in 2 areas of the North Cascade mountains. He will also discuss bear biology, scientifically proven ways to prevent conflicts, and simple steps that communities and outdoor enthusiasts can take to coexist with confidence and respect. Whether you live near bear habitat or enjoy spending time outdoors, you'll leave with useful knowledge and a greater appreciation for these remarkable animals.
