Course Description

How can a mathematical idea be explained in sixty seconds while still remaining accurate, engaging, and welcoming to people who feel nervous about math? This lecture uses WNBA statistics and game stories to show how sports data can make abstract concepts concrete and intuitive. Attendees will see examples of short‑form explanations, simple visualizations, and common misconceptions, and will explore what the rise of social media means for how the public encounters and understands mathematics today.

This  Zoom lecture is available to OLLI-UW members only.
