OLLI 1054 - Native Trees of Washington
Course Description
Washington's native trees all have stories to tell! During this short guided tree walk, we will spend about two hours learning about how trees connect to one another, to our forest ecosystems as a whole, and to us as human beings. The walk in Seward Park will take place in a true patch of old-growth forest, and participants can expect to learn about Black Cottonwood, Red Alder, Douglas-fir, Oregon White Oak, Western Redcedar, and more! This event is about more than just learning identification; it is about finding a true connection to the trees that call the Pacific Northwest home.
This walk begins at the Lost Lake Trailhead in Seward Park. This walk is about ¾ of a mile on a trail, (not ADA accessible) but an easy section of pathway, with about 50 ft of elevation change.
