Course Description

Join OLLI-UW as we take a tour in Olympia, Washington's State Capital. We will meet at the Governor's Mansion for a tour, then proceed to tour the Legislative Building with OLLI-UW member Tony Usibelli. 

The Governor's Mansion is the official residence of our governor. This redbrick, Georgian-style executive residence has been home to Washington's governors since 1910. It has been fully restored and furnished with many antiques from the American Federal period (1790s-1830s). 

The Legislative Building is home to the Washington State Legislature and the offices of the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, and State Treasurer. It was completed in 1928 and is the tallest building with a masonry dome in North America at 287-feet high. The interior is decorated with Tiffany chandeliers and marbles from five countries. 

Transportation is not provided. The mansion tour is 30 minutes of walking and standing. The mansion is accessible to walkers and wheelchairs (1st floor only).
