Application Steps

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Before you start your application, have these ready:

  • A brief personal statement (250-word maximum) that describes how your education and experience fulfill the program’s admission requirements (see Requirements section on the program page)
  • Your current resume
  • FAA Remote Pilot Certificate OR, unofficial transcript of fulfilment of GIS competencies of GIS basics, and ArcGIS Pro Basics (similar to the free Esri online courses)

Step 2: Start Your Application

When you’re ready, click Apply Now below.

First, you’ll need to create an account on our student portal.

 If you already have a UW NetID, select that option. Otherwise, choose I’m a new user.

Fill out the profile information and continue.

Step 3: Upload Your Materials

Upload your personal statement, resume and, if applicable, your FAA Part 107 certificate.

Step 4: Pay the Application Fee

Next, pay the $50 nonrefundable application and submit your application.

After You Apply

Check your inbox for an email asking you to set your password to the student portal. Once you’re logged in, you can check the status of your application anytime.  

If you’re accepted, you’ll get details in email about how to register for your course and pay your course fees. 

To ensure your spot in class, we recommend that you register promptly. The final registration deadline is seven days before the course starts.
